2nd Annual Butler Island Day 2022
About this event
This is a free event. You are invited to join our Second Annual Butler Island Day Commemoration on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM on Historical Butler Island Plantation--7777 Butler Island Road, Darien, Ga 31305.
We will honor the more than 900 enslaved men, women and children, on Butler Island, who sacrificed and lost so much only to later be erased from mainstream history books. Many of the enslaved sold in Savannah at The Weeping Time Slave Sale came from this very location.
Join us as we gather on the very soil where the enslaved lived, toiled, prayed and persevered for generations to help build America into the superpower she is today.
After the event there will be a walking tour.
Due to the hurricane we had to reschedule. Please, be safe and above all, be blessed. May we see you on Butler Island Day 2022.
We are committed to the safety of our volunteers and our guests. We encourage our guests to wear masks. Social distancing will be practiced at The Butler Island Day Commemoration.
